This position serves to provide expertise for general accounting across LexisNexis and provide deep subject matter expertise on accounting processes to optimize performance. As a member of the Global Finance Shared Services (GFSS) team based in Dayton, OH, the role will be responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting journal entries and account reconciliations and effective results submissions and internal control documentation. The position reports to the Manager of US Accounting and has frequent interactions with LexisNexis business units and GFSS teams to provide timely accounting results. There is a strong service oriented culture with focus on service to internal customers by providing on time and quality reporting, to build and maintain the reputation of GFSS.
Responsibilities
Gathers, interprets and analyses information
Prepares and analyses schedules, reports, journal entries and reconciliations
Reviews schedules, reports, journal entries and reconciliations
Builds and sustains a robust knowledge of financial processes, metrics and dynamics across areas accounting and financial close areas.
Completes accounting and financial close internal controls within prescribed guidelines
Supports the gathering and presentation of materials to support the internal and external audit process.
Promotes teamwork and a collaborative environment within the GFSS.
Maintains knowledge of data structures through the governance process
Supports GFSS globalization and technology projects including gathering and presentation of requirements and materials, user acceptance testing and training
Maintains GFSS internal relations network with all three GFSS pillars (Accounting, Operations and Cash Flow).
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with Finance concentration
3 to 6 years of finance or accounting experience, or equivalent
Knowledge of financial and management accounting, process and systems
Experience of achieving results in an international environment and/or in a centralized function working through regular interactions by email, phone or video conference with appreciation of differences in culture, time zones and legal frameworks (preferred)
Experience working in a Finance team through a period of significant change (preferred)
Financial skills: technical analytical skills including trend, variance and profitability analysis
Accounting skills: accounting policies and standards for revenue/cost and ability to research technical accounting matters
Business skills: Robust knowledge of financial processes, revenue drivers and dynamics for two or more businesses/industries
System knowledge: BI, Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint, Hyperion, Peoplesoft, fulfilment systems; Understanding of BI data structures and functionalities (preferred)
Continuous improvement: ability to act as a change agent, identifying areas of opportunity in an established process and executing improvements
Languages: strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Other accountabilities as neededEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
